A Path of Compassion

In the quiet evenings,

when the city lights flicker

against tired streets,

we walk—not as strangers,

but as fellow travelers.

With warm food in our hands,

and kindness in our hearts,

we offer what we can—

a meal, a smile,

a moment of being seen.

The Buddha taught:

“Compassion is the trembling of the heart

in response to suffering.”

And so our hearts learn to tremble,

not with sorrow alone,

but with the courage to care.

No giver, no receiver—

only the meeting of lives,

woven by unseen threads

of karma and connection.

A gentle word,

a listening ear,

a simple act of giving—

these become our prayers,

spoken without sound.

Like a lamp lit in the dark,

one small light

awakens another.

As the Buddha said:

“Lighting a lamp for others,

you brighten your own path.”

Week after week,

step by step,

we return—

not because we can change everything,

but because we cannot turn away.

In every face we meet,

there is a story,

a struggle,

a quiet strength.

And in every act of compassion,

the Dharma lives—

not in words,

but in action.

May all who walk this path

grow in boundless love.

May all beings be free from suffering.

May kindness rise

like the morning sun,

touching every corner

of this world.
