妙善林布施無家可歸者計劃

How beautiful it is when we can bring happiness to another person. We often say that the purpose of life is to be happy, but one of the greatest ways to find true happiness is by creating it in the lives of others. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, becomes a cause of joy. As Buddhists, we practice not only for our own liberation but also for the well-being and happiness of all sentient beings. Serving others with compassion is one of the most meaningful ways to live our lives.

Today’s homeless outreach was lovingly sponsored by Lisa Young, one of my longtime friends and a dedicated supporter of PLC. For many years, Lisa has continuously supported our humanitarian and Dharma activities with great generosity and kindness. We are deeply grateful for her loving heart and compassionate spirit.

Since next week is Lisa’s birthday, we wanted to celebrate it in a special way. Instead of celebrating only among ourselves, we shared the joy with our friends on the streets. We offered two large birthday cakes, and before we served them, something truly touching happened. Everyone gathered together and joyfully sang “Happy Birthday” for Lisa. Their sincere smiles, warm wishes, and grateful hearts made the celebration incredibly meaningful. It reminded us that happiness does not depend on wealth or possessions—it arises from kindness, connection, and genuine care for one another.

The Buddha taught that generosity (Dāna) is the foundation of all spiritual practice. When we give with a pure heart, we are not only helping others; we are also cultivating compassion, reducing our attachment, and planting the seeds of future happiness. A simple piece of cake, a warm meal, or a kind smile can become a precious gift that restores hope to someone who has been forgotten.

We may not be able to change a person’s entire life, but we can certainly make one day a little brighter. Sometimes, that one joyful day gives someone the strength to continue moving forward.

Thank you, Lisa, for making this outreach so meaningful and meritorious. May the merits of your generosity bring you good health, happiness, long life, and success in all that is wholesome. May you always be blessed by the Triple Gem, and may your compassion continue to inspire many others to serve the world with love.

Happy Birthday, Lisa! May your life be filled with peace, wisdom, compassion, and countless blessings.

Namo Buddhaya. 🙏
